Bob
just to confirm - the way I read your post, your T120R is running good after finishing carb and electrical work but the bike still chews through spark plugs.
This is someting that has happened with Triumphs and Beezas that I have owned over the years and I have always been amazed when a plug is faulty straight out of the box.I used to use Champion N3s but back in the 1980s the quality control was very poor.
I now always use NGKB8ES which is the equivalent to the N3. When you replace plugs just throw the old ones out. I change mine every 5000 miles as they are the easiest part of the ignition system to change and relatively cheap. Basically a faulty plug is rooted,it cant be fixed. Keep a spare set cleaned and gapped in your jacket pocket and a plug spanner in your tool kit in case you need to use them out in the middle of nowhere

Talk about an old topic- dug up from 2008! My experience with plug gap is that it is not noticable at all on a street bike. Set it to .025, or .032 or .041 or .019 and you won't notice the difference. The heat range of the plug is far more important than the gap, buy a few of different ranges and try them out until you find on the bike likes to chew on, then buy a half dozen to keep in your tool box.

The hack saw gap is just as good as any, and don't forget to set your point gap with a matchbook cover. The beauty of a Triumph is that it is totaly not finicky with these measurments, it's not a Ducatti ya' know.

Words are so unnecessary!
