Pops out of gear- can't get bike out of my driveway, will not remain in first gear.
I've owned the bike since 1980- loaned it to my brother for 10+ years, now it is back, and I can't ride it- yet. Steep driveway.
Is this a cam plunger problem- do I need need to stretch the spring on the cam plunger? Is this bolt a 7/16 witworth, or 18 mm, or ??/??
Any insight is appreciated.

If it pops out of first gear only, the problem would probably be
the gears [worn engaging dogs]If it was the camplate plunger it would
jump out of the other gears as well.
Try to find someone who knows what to look for in a Norton box instead
of someone who thinks they know what to look for
The gearbox of a triumph i used to own was a snap to work on, the
norton is a bit more finicky.Beleive me.
Good luck.
